Description
The tuxedo no. 2 is a fantastic riff on the classic gin martini made with dry gin, dry vermouth, absinthe, maraschino liqueur, orange bitters, and a lemon twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ounces dry gin
- ¾ ounce dry vermouth (I prefer Dolin)
- 1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Absinthe rinse
- Lemon peel, for garnish
Instructions
- Pour a cap full of absinthe into a chilled coupe glass. Twirl to coat the inside of the glass and discard the excess.
- Combine all ingredients (except lemon) in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds and strain into the coupe glass.
- Point the outer part of a lemon peel (non-pith side) towards the top of the drink and gently squeeze the edges so the oils spray out over the top of the cocktail. If done properly, you can actually see an oily film floating on the surface of your cocktail.
