Ingredients

1 Serving

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka Titos or Kettle One
  • 1 lemon wedge juice squeezed
  • 1 lime wedge juice squeezed
  • 4-5 ounces tomato juice I like V8 Original
  • 1-2 dashes hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce about 1/2 teaspoon
  • pinch Celery salt to taste
  • pinch salt and black pepper to taste

Batched Bloody Mary Mix (makes 8)

  • 46 ounces tomato juice I like V8 Original
  • 1 lime juice squeezed
  • 1 lemon juice squeezed
  • 8-16 dashes hot sauce
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Garnishes

  • Celery
  • Green olives both stuffed and regular
  • Baby pickles sweet or dill
  • Hot peppers jalapenos, pepperoncini
  • Hot sauces
  • Bacon Candied and extra crispy
  • Cooked shrimp

Instructions

  • Squeeze the juice of the lemon and lime wedges into a serving glass and toss them in. Add vodka, tomato juice, horseradish, Worcestershire, celery salt black pepper, and hot sauce (with no ice).
  • Stir with a bar spoon until fully mixed. Horseradish should be evenly distributed.
  • Fill the glass with ice to the top. Stir to chill and garnish as desired.
  • For the batched cocktail mix: combine all ingredients in a pitcher or remove 4-5 ounces from the V8 container and fill it with all ingredients except the vodka. Shake to mix and pour over ice with vodka. Keep chilled for best results.

Notes

If making batched mix: start with the suggested ingredients and add more to taste. I usually remove 4-5 ounces from the V8 container, add all the ingredients, and shake in between. Keep chilled.
Not all horseradish brands are created equal. I've found some to be very pungent. Start small and add more as needed.
Don't skip ingredients. Other than the tomato juice and vodka, horseradish may be the most important aspect of the cocktail. Otherwise, it will taste like tomato juice with vodka.
The lime and lemon juice add a subtle but refreshing burst of citrus that makes it a bit more thirst-quenching.
Don't be afraid to spice it up. It should be a little spicy but not burn your house down in the process. Start with two dashes of hot sauce and add more if needed. Better yet, serve hot sauce on the side.
Don't waste top-shelf vodka. If you are going to be adding 4 ounces of tomato juice to anything, something mid-range is more than fine.
Go crazy with garnishes. Pepperoncini, crispy bacon, olives, and pickles are a great start. If you can see where your cocktail starts you're doing it all wrong.
