Course: Cocktail
Cuisine: American
Servings: 1 cocktail
- 2 1/2 ounces blanco tequila can sub vodka or gin
- 1/2 ounce elderflower liqueur
- 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 2 strawberries stems removed, muddled
- 2 cucumber slices muddled (optional)
Remove the tops from the strawberries. Muddle strawberries and cucumber slices together in a Boston Shaker until completely pulverized.
Add tequila, lime, elderflower, simple syrup, and a large cup of ice.
Shake for 10 seconds and double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a strawberry slice.
A muddler or blender is key to success. You need to pulverize the strawberries until they become a pulp, releasing all the natural juices and flavors.
I highly recommend double straining this cocktail. Pass the contents through a fine mesh strainer to remove any bits of fruit that can slip through the larger holes on a cocktail strainer. This makes the cocktail feel more sophisticated.
Freeze your glasses ahead of time to keep your drink chilled for longer. I'm using a Nick and Nora glass for this cocktail.
Fresh basil leaves makes for a delicious addition to this cocktail. Muddle them with strawberry and cucumber.
